Background & Justification
In times of peace and war alike, the world is reeling under the horrors of rape and violence against women, men and children. Should we remain silent? Should we remain passive, thereby making ourselves accomplices? Should we allow the whole world to continue in this downward spiral? CAD AID Foundation, founded by Carine Laure Mambou Metiefeng, is a non-profit NGO with offices in Cameroon, South Africa, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Ireland, specializing in the fight against violence and sexual abuse of women and children, and advocating gender equality. CAD AID Foundation promotes girls' education and women's empowerment, encourages legal and policy reforms to protect women and girls, raises awareness of the importance of women's empowerment, girls' education and gender equality, and supports all initiatives aimed at improving the mental health of women and girls and adding value to their living conditions. Within the framework of youth capacity building, the NGO wishes to place greater emphasis on girls' education, entrepreneurship and female leadership in order to alleviate gender equality problems, as it believes that entrepreneurship and female leadership are essential for promoting economic growth and social development.
